ABOUT US

Windsor Valiants was created in 1989 by program founder Tony Piccinato.  It is with great honour and tradition that the club continues to provide basketball opportunities for young females in the community of Windsor and essex county.  Tony believed in creating a safe, fun and enjoyable learning environment for females to grow and develop not only as athletes but as young women and the club continues to aspire to uphold these qualities and characteristics today. "Play Hard, Play Smart, Have Fun!"  If you are interest we would love to have you join to be a part of our family.

Windsor Valiants Basketball is starting its 30th year of competitive girls basketball. During that period numerous teams have gone on to win Basketball Ontario Championships at every age level. Many of our players have graduated and played not only at Canadian Universities, but many have obtained scholarships to the United States as well. Our coaches continue to work hard to find Universities and/or scholarships for our graduating players and are committed to seeing them succeed.

The Windsor Valiants provide a highly competitive program for girls of all ages, including the only all-girl house league program in Essex County, attracting over 150 girls in Grades 2,3,4,5,6,7 & 8. The Valiants also run a very successful travel program, with teams at every level including Junior Elite.

The Valiants play in tournaments all over Ontario as well as Michigan and other states across America. Each year many of our teams make it a priority to play in at least one US tournament, in order to gain a different perspective on the game. Valiant teams have played in many tournaments run by the Girls Basketball Association (GBA) (http://www.gbabasketball.com/ ), including tournaments played in Florida, West Virginia, North Carolina, Vermont and Hawaii (winning the Maui Classic in 2005) (www.mauisummerclassic.com). The Valiants are not limited to North America and have travelled over seas to compete, with foreign destinations including Japan, Sweden, The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
